Metalventures was founded in 2005 by Sam Garrett after a successful 17 year career as an exploration geologist and manager for both multinational and junior exploration and mining companies. During this time Sam operated and managed projects in nine countries specialising in copper and gold exploration across a broad range of geologic environments. His experience has earned him an enviable success record including the discovery of the Tujuh Bukit Au-Ag-Cu high sulphidation-porphyry deposit in Java, Indonesia.

Sam has a Bachelor of Science Degree (with Honors) and a Masters of Economic Geology from the University of Tasmania. He later earned his Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Sydney. 

Sam is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscience and the Society of Economic Geology (US).
